Going to pick medicine, the old man discovered a stream full of gold. Experts blasted the mountain, revealing the original “treasure” from 400 years ago.

“A big piece of cake” fell from the sky

In 1966, Suichang district in Zhejiang province, China, in a remote village deep in the mountains, there was an old farmer named Ly who went up the mountain every day to pick medicine.

One day, the weather was bad and there was heavy rain, so the old man could not go into the mountain. He had to wait for the weather to improve before going up the mountain to pick medicinal herbs.

As soon as the weather stopped, old Ly couldn’t wait to go up the mountain. When passing by a small stream next to the village, he suddenly saw some small yellow stones in the stream. Out of curiosity, he picked up these stones.

After returning home, Mr. Ly closely observed these “stones” and discovered that the stones he picked up during the day turned out to be gold.

Many people in the village went to the mountains to pan for gold with their whole families. Even if they were late, there would be no place left.

the gold in this stream is in very large quantity, small grains, and relatively uniform shape.

After a few days, the villagers had accumulated a lot of gold in their house.

the truth behind the stream full of gold

Under the guidance of the villagers, the survey team from Beijing went upstream and discovered that there was a small mountain dividing the stream in two. Using survey tools, they found that the gold content in the water here was several times higher.

Based on reasonable inferences, the blasting plan went smoothly. When the explosives were detonated, the whole mountain shook, and dust filled the sky, obscuring everyone’s vision.

the outer layer of the cave has been eroded by underground rivers and torrential rain for hundreds of years, and the top layer of soil has been dispersed, so the gold flows downstream to the stream, to be found and picked up by villagers.

After research and investigation, experts discovered that according to the shape, characteristics, structure of the cave as well as the arrangement and clothing of these skeletons, they did not match the characteristics of the caves.

As the investigation progressed, relevant historical records gradually emerged: this gold mine was recorded as dating back to the Ming Dynasty (from 1368 to 1644), exploited by local people.

After the secrets were reopened, the relevant local authorities urgently organized a general meeting for the villagers to discuss how to handle the gold.

Nowadays, the small village is a famous tourist destination.
